Founder and Chairman of the Board

Alissa Everett is a freelance photographer and writer who seeks out humanity in the world's most troubled regions, including Iraq and Darfur.

Karen E. Lynn
Chief Financial Officer, Board Member
Karen graduated from Old Dominion University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and began her accounting career in San Francisco. She has been assisting the nonprofit community with their accounting, exemption applications and tax compliance both as an accountant and as a volunteer ever since. Besides human rights issues, her interests include sustainable agriculture (she is an avid gardener) and the environment.

Kathy Vizas
Board Secretary
Kathy spent a year as a Rotary International Fellow at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland after obtaining her biology degree from Bucknell University. She then graduated cum laude from law school at the University of Pennsylvania. Kathy served as the chief litigation attorney for a $2 billion division of Raychem as well as at Levi Strauss & Co. As General Counsel at Peregrine Systems, Inc. in San Diego, Kathy was part of a three-person turn-around team, hired to direct the floundering company through recovery from a massive fraud. In 2005 Kathy and her husband relocated back to the Berkeley, where she is active with several non-profit organizations. She enjoys playing golf, biking and traveling, as well as playing with her two exceptional dogs, Lucy and Mikey.

Claudia Juesteel
Board Member
Claudia Juestel, the founder and principal of interior design firm Adeeni Design Group, is a committee member and regular participant of Dining by Design, an active mentor for students at Metwest High School in Oakland, and a supporter of national and international non-profit organizations with a focus on the the environment and the rights, safety, health and education of women and children.

Diana Britt
Social change and human rights have always been a passion for Diana. She is a Software Sales Executive and lives in Marin with her husband and two girls.

Kathryn Johnson
Board Member of Friends of the World Food Program
Kathryn E. Johnson served for 25 years as the President/CEO of Health Forum. She retired from that position in 2002. Johnson graduated from Indiana University and received her master’s degree in organizational behavior at Boston University. From 1969 to 1976, she was the director of management and development at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Currently, Johnson serves on the board of directors of the Health Technology Center, Friends of the UN’s World Food Program, Global Women’s Leadership Program, RENEW, International Leadership Association and Omni Med. She also serves on the Advisory Boards of LIVING GOODS and MedShare. She is the co-founder of the Center for Global Service and is an active consultant to healthcare and nonprofit organizations.
